When a parasitic deep-sea organism infects a container ship’s crew, a marginalized IT technician and a prostitute buying passage to America must outmaneuver a corrupt crew to stop a rapidly mutating parasite that could end life on Earth if it reaches shore.
SYNOPSIS:
Nico, the ship’s disregarded IT technician, and Talia, a prostitute smuggled aboard as payment for her passage to America, are aboard a container ship when it collides at sea with a damaged deep-sea research vessel. Against better judgment, infected survivors are taken aboard. Soon after, crew members begin exhibiting violent, inhuman behavior as a parasitic organism spreads through bodies, food stores, and the ship itself.
As the outbreak escalates, the captain and senior crew prioritize secrecy and profit, determined to reach port despite mounting evidence that the parasite is rapidly mutating and collective in nature. Nico uncovers data revealing the organism’s capacity to reorganize bodies and structures into larger forms, while Talia is pulled directly into the chaos as the crew turns on itself. With landfall approaching and extinction-level consequences looming, the two outcasts act to sabotage the ship and stop the parasite at sea, uncertain whether the threat has been ended or merely delayed.
