THE LAST DRAGON: REBORN - (FEATURE)
By B. E. Davis

GENRE: Action, Thriller / Suspense
LOGLINE:

On the 40th anniversary of Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon, a young martial artist in present-day New York discovers the legendary “Glow” still burns within him. As new villains rise and old legends resurface, he must embrace his identity, channel the spirit of Leroy Green, and rally a new generation to fight for legacy, representation, and the power of believing in yourself. Both a love letter to the original and a bold reimagining, this reboot is action-packed and franchise-ready.

SYNOPSIS:

Setup & Conflict In a neon-drenched 2025 New York, underground fight streams dominate the culture. Shogun Styles, the self-crowned “Shogun of Brooklyn,” rules with fear, spectacle, and viral brutality. When a disciplined but unknown fighter, Jay Jackson, humiliates him in front of thousands, the city hails him as the “Glow Kid.” But Jay isn’t chasing fame — he’s searching for balance.

Liv Carter, Jay’s longtime friend and aspiring music star, finds her career rising just as Shogun targets her to get to Jay. Jay is drawn into the orbit of the legendary Leroy Green (Taimak) — the original Last Dragon, now a reclusive master. Leroy teaches Jay that the Glow isn’t a weapon, but a truth: wholeness, calm, and identity.

Escalation & Resolution Shogun escalates his campaign, turning kids into pawns, hijacking public spaces, and baiting Jay into a public showdown: the reborn Dragon Pit in the heart of Times Square. With Liv’s music igniting the crowd and Leroy’s wisdom echoing in his mind, Jay channels the Glow — not for victory, but for wholeness. In front of the world, he defeats Shogun with grace, not vengeance.

The city erupts. Liv becomes a voice of empowerment. Leroy passes the torch, his legacy alive in Jay. But as Brooklyn begins to heal, whispers of a new, more dangerous enemy rise — leaving Jay to face a future where shadows will always hunt the light.
