THE CHILDREN'S ROUND / THE ROUND DANCE

THE CHILDREN'S ROUND / THE ROUND DANCE
By Vladimir Romantsev

GENRE: Thriller / Suspense, Horror
LOGLINE:

An autistic boy insists the snowman in their yard is a demon in disguise. When his mother realizes he's telling the truth, the neighbor children — already transformed by the creature — kill her and hunt the boy. Now, his survival depends on a seasoned detective, whose own daughter is autistic, believing his impossible story.

SYNOPSIS:

In an ordinary courtyard in winter stands an ordinary snowman. Children play on the playground near it, and everything is as usual—parents and children are happy. But one autistic boy never played with the other children outside; he only watched from the window as the others played near the snowman.

One morning, as usual, the boy's tutor came to see him. The autistic boy told her there was no snowman in the courtyard. The tutor thought this was just a sign of his autism and didn’t pay it any mind.

But a few days later, there was a knock at the boy’s door. On the doorstep stood all six of those children who always played near the snowman. They called for the boy, who had never played with them before. His mother called him downstairs. He descended from the second floor and, frightened, approached the children...

Over time, the parents of these children began to notice them acting strangely. During the day, they all skipped school and started circling the snowman. At night, the children rose from their beds, went outside in just their pajamas, stood by the snowman, and began their circling dance again. They felt no cold. The autistic boy heard the terrible sounds these children—now transformed into demons—were making outside. But their parents still saw them only as children, not as demons...

He saw that the snowman wasn’t a snowman at all, but some dark creature resembling a demon or a devil—one that distorted people’s perception, making them see this terrifying demon as a friendly snowman. And as the children played near it, they gradually turned into little devil-demons themselves. When the boy approached the children, he didn’t see children, but dark demons with horns, claws, tails, and sharp teeth.

The autistic boy ran with all his might back up the stairs to his room. The children lunged at his mother, tore her apart, and then ate her...
