THE BROKEN CONNECTION
By Vladimir Romantsev

GENRE: Military/War, Drama
LOGLINE: Investigating an explosion on a U.S. aircraft carrier, a detective uncovers a terrorist attack orchestrated by a covert network of military chef-terrorists. If he fails to convince the Pentagon of the existence of this secret network, American bases and ships around the world will be their next targets.

SYNOPSIS:

After a catastrophic explosion aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier, a seasoned military detective is assigned to investigate what is initially ruled an accident. But as inconsistencies surface, he begins to suspect a coordinated attack from within the system he once trusted. His investigation leads him to an unlikely suspect: a quiet yet brilliant military cook. Raised by a former military strategist, the cook was taught to think like a tactician from a young age. Despite rejecting violence, he honored a promise to his dying father to serve in the U.S. military — choosing the role of a cook, far from the battlefield. Over the years, while stationed abroad, he formed a deep connection through Telegram with a man in Iran — not just with him, but with his entire family. What began as casual conversation grew into a genuine bond that spanned cultures and distance. But everything changed when a U.S. missile strike killed them all. Disillusioned and driven by a calculated sense of justice, the cook used his strategic mind to build a covert network of radicalized military cooks embedded across U.S. bases, naval fleets, and even inside the Pentagon. Hidden in plain sight, they are preparing coordinated attacks designed to cripple the military from within. As the detective uncovers the scale of the conspiracy, the case turns personal in the worst possible way: his own son — a soldier he never wanted to see in uniform — is stationed at one of the potential targets. But the truth is even more devastating. Digging deeper, the detective discovers that his son is not just in danger — he has been recruited into the network. Now, with time running out and military leadership refusing to believe the threat, the detective faces an impossible choice: expose the conspiracy and risk condemning his own son, or stay silent and allow devastating attacks to unfold. In a race against time, he must confront both the enemy within the system — and the one within his own family — before it’s too late.
