1. Logline

A Night Receptionist at a historic Austrian hotel sees his peaceful routine explode into chaos when the presidential suite’s resident Ukrainian billionaire’s team of eccentric geniuses arrive — all secretly working to reassemble the Chronovisor, a legendary device said to reveal visions of the past… and perhaps the future.

2. Series Overview

Hell of a Weekend is a stylish, intelligent thriller about the sudden transformation of a Night Receptionist from a staunch secularist to an esoteric believer — all over the course of a single weekend. The show blends real historical conspiracy with humor and escalating mystery, set entirely within the luxurious but creaking walls of the Hotel Imperium.

The center of the mystery? A Vatican-kept legend: the Chronovisor, a supposed time-viewing device hidden away after the Cold War — and now, possibly rebuilt.

  • Tone: Quentin Tarantino’s Four rooms meets Only Murders in the Building with a hint of The Da Vinci Code
  • Setting: A secluded five-star hotel in Vienna Woods with 200+ years of hidden secrets.
  • Themes: Five star hotel life, mystery, science vs. belief, esotericism, decoding.
  • Structure: Each episode peels back layers of both characters and the Chronovisor mystery, building to a final revelation.

While Season One takes place over a single unforgettable weekend in Austria, the next unfolds in another hotel, in another land — with new characters, new intrigues, and an even more astounding mystery.

3. Key Characters

Ernie – The Night Receptionist

Witty, introspective, and deeply observant. A dreamer rather than a hero, but this weekend will test his courage like never before. The entire story unfolds through his eyes.

„The Creator“ - Mr. Bogdachenko, Ukrainian Billionaire

An eccentric night-owl and artifact collector. A long-time guest of the presidential suite who’s obsessed with reassembling the Chronovisor to uncover the ultimate truth.

Miss Parakova – The Bulgarian Medium

A seductive mystic and Ouija board expert. Speaking with the dead is just part of her daily routine. Charismatic, unsettling — and full of secrets.

Chandra Bangdrapur – The Indian Hypnotist

Master of accessing hidden memories. Enigmatic, always speaking in riddles and sipping Scotch. Possibly sees more than he admits.

Dr. Van Haegen – The Blind Mathematician

Legally blind with an IQ over 180. His heightened hearing compensates for his lost sight, making him a human lie detector. Calm, intense, and quietly terrifying.

Montserrat – The Catalan Barmaid & Ernie’s Love Interest

Beautiful, shy, and emotionally complex. A touch of mystery surrounds her — not least her recurring health complaints, which may or may not be real.

„Herrgeneraldirektor“ Kowalski – The Hotel GM

Petite in stature, towering in authority. His past is a blank slate, and no one knows how he landed his high-ranking position. Definitely hiding something.

4. The Chronovisor: Fact or Fiction?

Based on a real-life Vatican conspiracy theory, the Chronovisor was allegedly built in the 1950s by a team of scientists and clergy — including Enrico Fermi and Father Ernetti. It was said to allow users to view past events, such as the crucifixion of Christ. The machine vanished... or was dismantled by the Church.

In Hell of a Weekend, fragments of it resurface — and this bizarre guest list is not random. They are the final piece of a 70-year puzzle.

Hey, the concept sounds cool but the logline feels a bit too long with too many details. I'd tighten a little.
