A disgraced neurosurgeon, condemned to perform lobotomies in a crumbling California asylum, discovers that consuming the memories of his patients unlocks both their darkest secrets and his own, fueling a struggle for power, sanity, and redemption among the facility’s haunted staff.
SYNOPSIS:
A Taste for Lunacy is a psychological horror drama set in a decaying mid-century asylum, where disgraced neurosurgeon Dr. Arnold Schuler is forced to perform a relentless series of lobotomies to keep his secrets buried. As Arnold develops a compulsion to consume traces of his patients’ brain matter, he discovers he can access the memories, traumas, and darkest urges of the criminally insane under his care. Each new “taste” pulls him deeper into a hallucinatory spiral, blurring the line between healer and predator, sanity and madness. Haunted by a sinister apparition that grows ever more real, Arnold’s identity begins to fracture as he absorbs the sins and violence of his subjects. As the asylum’s staff grows suspicious and the rituals escalate, Arnold must confront the monstrous truth within himself before he is completely consumed—body and soul—by the madness he thought he could control.
