SYNOPSIS:

1890s - A thrilling chase through the Carpathian mountains ends with the death of Dracula! Two of our heroes, Jonathan and Wilhelmina Harker, hoping to find a new normal, start a family. Dracula’s blood, still in Wilhelmina’s veins, endows her children, Quincey, Arthur and Lucy with abilities. Neither human nor vampire but something of both.

EARLY 2000's - After decades as the premier vampire hunter, Lucy’s daughter Mina, is retired. When Mina and her daughter Viv experience a near fatal attack at the hands of her uncle Quincey's men, Mina vanishes to protect her, leading the world and Viv to believe her dead... and so begins our story.

PRESENT DAY - Mina spends her days restocking shelves at a home improvement store when her coworkers become the targets of a roaming den of vampires. Determined to not get involved, Mina plans to move on before being recognized.

MEANWILE, Viv’s days are on repeat, coping with a condition that makes life twice as hard as it should be, as she volunteers at a women's shelter and teaches at her local karate dojo. When a mysterious stranger reveals that the mother she thought dead for twenty years is very much alive, Viv’s hunger for answers overwhelms her. As she searches her father’s office for proof of his lies she finds not only evidence of her mother’s life, but of a world she never knew existed.

TO PROTECT a precocious little girl that reminds her too much of Viv, Mina reluctantly steps in. Struggling to reawaken her abilities, she kills for the first time in years and discovers that the “roaming” vampires finding her was far from accidental.

FEELING BETRAYED and hopeless Viv seeks out peace of mind, but finds Lucy instead. Her grandmother unceremoniously introduces Viv to the deadly world of vampires. After it's revealed that her physical limitations were purposely caused by her parents, Viv finds herself cautiously appreciative of Lucy for reversing the effect. Viv has more than a little fun exploring her newfound strength and agility and when Lucy offers her the opportunity to train to become a vampire hunter like the rest of her bloodline, Viv sees a glimmer of hope in the prospect of a new life.

AFTER A HARD LOSS, Mina gets her groove back and annihilates, with great style, the threat to her friends with a little help from her entertainingly lethal cousins, Cain and Abel. They bring news that their Uncle Quincey has returned to L.A. and that Viv is in danger and that it’s Lucy’s plan to show her the family business. In Mina's eyes, other than death, the worst thing that could happen to Viv, is to be trained as a hunter by Lucy. With anger and determination Mina rejoins the fray with plans to save Viv whether she likes it or not and to annihilate anyone that gets in her way, even if it is her mother. The episode ends with Mina, Viv and Lucy on a collision course with each other and with the entire vampire underworld, which stands on the brink of collapse.
