Two generations and conflicting cultures find common cause and unite to preserve a town's historic mall by turning the now nearly vacant and dilapidated building into a hive of activity for two unlikely generations who thwart the efforts of an evil AI data center company, proving that the most effective communities are those that work together in the real world.
SYNOPSIS:
Historic Washington Square Mall, affectionately known as The Square, has seen better days. Opening to tremendous fanfare as one of the Magnificent Malls of the Midwest by the billionaire Sinclair family in 1980, today the nearly vacant and dilapidated building is a place of refuge for two unlikely communities: the young stoner set and the 55+ mall walker crowd.
A public announcement that the mall, currently owned by the city due to tax liens, will be converted into a new data center of the evil AI Corporation, Muskberg X, creates panic amongst the malls users and supporters. An unlikely uniting of the Stoners and Seniors Saving The Square creates a media firestorm and triggers an outpouring of support by a community that had moved on from the Mall culture as it remembers how important The Square once was.
The movie demonstrates how unlikely partners can cast aside difference, real and imagined, and unite over the common good to promote the messy but beautiful practice of living life in organic connection instead of in electronic isolation.
