FATHERHOOD

FATHERHOOD
By Emmanuel Jomy

GENRE: Family
LOGLINE:

In a quiet American bar, a broken single father who just learned he has only months to live shares an unexpectedly comforting conversation with a mysterious woman named Emily — unaware that she is his 12-year-old daughter from the future, reaching back through time to give him the peace and closure he desperately needs before he is gone.

SYNOPSIS:

For twelve years, Ethan Hayes has built his entire world around one person—his daughter, Lily. From rushed mornings to late-night stories told through exhaustion, their life isn’t perfect, but it’s theirs. In the middle of long workdays and quiet sacrifices, Ethan holds onto the belief that as long as she’s smiling, he’s doing something right.

On an otherwise ordinary Friday, life shifts in a way he never expected. Faced with news he isn’t ready to understand, Ethan finds himself looking at the small details of his life differently—the way Lily talks without pausing, the way she waits for him to listen, the simple comfort of her presence beside him.

That evening, after dropping her off at a friend’s house with a gentle kiss on her forehead, Ethan drifts into a quiet bar, carrying thoughts he cannot put into words. There, he meets a woman named Emily.

Their conversation begins simply, but there’s something about her—an ease, a warmth—that feels strangely familiar. She speaks of life in a way that feels both distant and deeply personal, gently reminding him of the moments he’s lived without realizing their worth. Not the big milestones, but the small, fleeting pieces of time that quietly shape everything.

Through her words, Ethan begins to see his life not as something lacking, but as something fuller than he ever allowed himself to believe.

Before she leaves, Emily offers one final thought—soft, almost passing, yet it settles deep within him. It takes a moment for him to understand it. And when he does, he rushes outside, searching for her in the quiet night.

She’s gone.

What remains is not confusion, but clarity. A quiet shift in the way he sees time, love, and the life still in front of him.

Fatherhood is a tender, reflective story about the unnoticed beauty of everyday moments and the love we often express in imperfect ways. It is a reminder that life is not measured in years or achievements, but in the time we choose to truly be there for the people who matter most.

Because sometimes, the moments we think we can come back to… are the ones that matter the most.
