After a young couple moves into a remote fixer-upper in the woods, hoping to heal from the trauma of a recent miscarriage, they discover that their “forever home” sits atop an ancient Native burial ground—and that a carved totem left behind by previous owners is more than just decoration. As strange occurrences escalate, the couple is pulled into a harrowing descent of nightmares, seizures, and shifting realities, culminating in the horrifying revelation that a cannibalistic spirit—the Wiindigo—is seeking a new host. As Ben begins to change, Anna races to uncover the truth with the help of a tribal historian and the only known survivor of a similar haunting. But time is running out. The totem cannot be destroyed.
