SYNOPSIS:

Aucencio Martinez is a dedicated middle-distance runner whose life has always been measured in seconds. After years of sacrifice and relentless training, he reaches the Olympic Trials but misses making the team by one-hundredth of a second, a loss he believes will define him forever. Years later, a sudden stroke leaves him unable to move normally and struggling to speak, forcing him to relearn how to stand, walk, and use his own body. As rehabilitation tests his patience and pride, Aucencio confronts the deeper fear of losing his identity, his independence, and his place in his children’s lives. Through setbacks, family strain, and moments of doubt, he gradually discovers that his worth was never tied to winning races but to resilience, presence, and fatherhood. Seconds to Heaven is a true story about losing everything you thought made you strong and learning that strength is found in showing up, even when you cannot perform.
