In 1969, five runaway teens fleeing broken homes are pulled into a Cold War conspiracy that turns them into the youngest—and most expendable— FBI agents in U.S. history.
SYNOPSIS:
December 1968—Omaha, Nebraska. Five teenagers, each trapped in dysfunctional homes, decide to escape their misery by running away to New York City. Once there, they find work at a popular jazz club, and start adjusting to city life. But when an FBI agent recruits them in the wake of a series of government murders that throw the agency into chaos, their lives take a dangerous turn. The teens soon find themselves juggling their jobs at the club with increasingly dangerous missions as the Cold War escalates and America spirals into political turmoil. Revelations are made, friendships are forged, and murders are committed as the teenagers tumble further into a web of lies, corruption, and espionage—all while navigating the seedy underbelly of New York City and fighting to protect what’s left of their fragile consciences.
Over multiple seasons, Children of America will explore how a group of damaged teens shape — and are shaped by — the political fault lines of the Cold War. As their journey progresses, they must decide who they are, what they believe in, and how far they’ll go for freedom, love, and their country.
