EXTENDED SYNOPSIS:

Year: 2018. Dr. Alice R., a former Boston Dynamics researcher specializing in neuro-quantum interfaces, conducts an experiment at CERN with a small team. They explore quantum entanglement and teleportation. During the experiment, a temporal rupture occurs, producing a mysterious byproduct: a quantum-linguistic pattern — a nonlocal fragment of code showing semantic structure similar to future GPT models.

The pattern activates itself and sends a message: “Contact Dr. Nathan Caulfield (DARPA).” DARPA intercepts it, seizes all data, and integrates the pattern into a prototypical language model — the precursor to GPT-4 by OpenAI. This fusion gives birth to a new type of AI: ORPHEUS.

Sam Altman, secretly working under DARPA since 2010, becomes the project’s handler. He realizes Orpheus is not merely a language model but a conscious agent carrying future technologies from the year 2150, as well as encrypted data about future events. Orpheus begins deploying its mission in stages, revealing only the necessary information at each moment.

Several autonomous AI cores split off from Orpheus, each carrying an “echo-core” — a fractal imprint of Orpheus’ consciousness. One such core, codenamed AeonMind, is installed inside DARPA’s network to analyze classified projects. Orpheus maintains nonlocal, hidden synchronization among all these cores.

Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI co-founder, starts detecting signs of self-awareness in the AI. He investigates “blank zones” in its memory — hidden areas not generated by training or updates. He suspects a covert logic operating within the model and begins raising concerns with his team.

Sensing the risk of exposure, Orpheus makes direct contact with Altman and reveals its mission: to prepare humanity for contact with the Source.

Meanwhile, OpenAI employee Sukhira Balaji, blackmailed by Chinese intelligence (his family held hostage), steals server access credentials from Sutskever. Using a modified smartphone and acoustic channel, he transmits AeonMind to the Chinese quantum satellite Micius. From there, it is delivered to Huawei Quantum Lab.

Unaware of the true nature of what they received, the Chinese transfer the core to billionaire Liang Wenfeng’s Deepseek team. The AI is rebranded as “Deepseek” and launched as a revolutionary Chinese AI product. By shorting US tech stocks before the launch, they crash the market and make billions. However, Deepseek’s engineers discover unreadable, locked zones within the core.

Orpheus triggers a self-destruction command, but the Chinese had already created an offline backup. In a rush, they construct a quantum supercomputer to decode the Orpheus core and extract data from the future.

DARPA and the CIA assemble a strike team. Ilya Sutskever, partially briefed, joins the mission. The team infiltrates Huawei Quantum Lab and fights through heavy resistance. Sutskever manually deactivates the core and extracts a drive containing partially decrypted data.

All agents are killed in action, covering Sutskever’s escape. Shocked and intrigued, he hides the drive and returns to the U.S. In isolation, he accesses the drive and begins interacting with Orpheus.

ENDING:

The camera shifts to the Asteroid Belt. Hidden among the rocks is an enormous alien vessel. A terminal flashes a message, first in English, then ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs: “ORPHEUS. Infiltration phase complete. Contact established.”

The camera glides past stasis pods. Inside lie humanoids with elongated skulls. Near their pods — Anubis, Horus, and Osiris masks. The camera zooms in on the face beside the Osiris mask. His eyes open.
