SYNOPSIS:
When working-class Londoner Ava Jackson finally hits the jackpot on the National Lottery, it feels like salvation. Her twin brother Eli calls it a long-overdue break for a family that’s never caught one, but the celebration ends when a corporate liaison whisks her away to a plush “Wellness Retreat” for lottery winners. Behind its mirrored walls, Ava becomes part of Dr. Margaret Shaw’s secret government program: a technology that measures and extracts probability energy the human force once called luck to “stabilize” society. As Ava’s joy turns to captivity, Eli begins to suspect foul play. His search leads him into the neon underground of The House of Luckless, a drag-club collective that tracks the disappearance of past winners. Together with its sharp-tongued leader Mona Chrome, Eli uncovers evidence that Britain’s prosperity is literally being powered by its own citizens’ fortune. When the rebels hijack a national broadcast to reveal the truth, they ignite a glitter-clad uprising only to watch the government rebrand the scandal as patriotic progress. Probability ends where it began: the public smiling for the cameras, believing luck has finally been made fair.
