BRAINFOG

BRAINFOG
By Mike Blesch

GENRE: Thriller / Suspense, Horror
LOGLINE:

After waking in a locked room with his terrified female friend, a brain-injured man has only minutes to prove he is not a monster before his mind resets and the evidence against him gets worse.

SYNOPSIS:

Brainfog is a contained psychological thriller about Evan, a brain-injured man who wakes in a locked basement apartment with no memory of how he got there. Across the room, his closest friend Renee is restrained, terrified, and showing signs of violence he cannot remember committing.

As Evan struggles to understand what happened, the room begins to change around him. Objects move. Notes appear in his own handwriting. Renee is found in increasingly dangerous situations. Each time fog pours from the vent, Evan blacks out and wakes minutes later to discover more evidence that he may be the threat.

With no reliable memory, no clear escape, and only a few minutes between each reset, Evan must decide whether he is trying to save Renee from something outside the room or from himself. The truth becomes more horrifying than he could have imagined. Someone is using his broken mind against him.

Brainfog is designed as a low-budget, high-concept short film with feature potential.

Mike Blesch This is a really compelling high-concept premise. I especially like how the memory-reset mechanic isn't just a plot device it continuously raises the stakes by making both Evan and the audience question what's real and whether he can even trust himself. The contained setting also feels like a great fit for a suspense-driven story that relies on character and tension rather than scale. My only thought is that I'd love just a small additional hint about the force manipulating Evan's condition without giving away the mystery. Wishing you all the best with this project!
