A bungling career criminal who is bafflingly uncatchable gets dragged into a plot to gain control of a device that could bring the world’s governments to their knees, and is enlisted by the CIA to bring down those responsible for the scheme.  But when it comes time to play the hero, he is forced to reveal the truth to the agents in charge: whenever he experiences a traumatic event, his body creates a physical duplicate of himself to help him evade capture – and that there are now 47 of him, all with the same power.
