After a body is found wrapped in cotton candy at a 1920s carnival, a powerful family’s rise to success is threatened by a string of bizarre murders—and a killer hiding in plain sight.
SYNOPSIS:
In 1924 Anaheim, beneath the glittering lights and hypnotic music of a thriving carnival empire, terror begins with a single horrifying discovery: a body wrapped in cotton candy, staged like a grotesque attraction for all to see. The murder sends shockwaves through Carnival Town, threatening the powerful Astley family—the founders of a legendary entertainment dynasty whose success spans generations.
The story traces the origins of the Astley legacy back to 1700s London, where the family first built a trick-riding school that evolved into a traveling circus and eventually a sprawling carnival empire. Over centuries, the Astleys transformed spectacle into business, bringing wonder to audiences across Europe before chasing the promise of the American dream. Their greatest achievement becomes Carnival Town in Anaheim—a dazzling world of performers, sideshows, exotic animals, illusionists, and outcasts who form a fragile family beneath the tents.
But behind the glamour lies something darker.
As bizarre murders begin to multiply, long-buried secrets rise to the surface. Each death exposes fractures within the carnival community—jealousy, betrayal, greed, and hidden rivalries. While the Astley family struggles to preserve their legacy, suspicion spreads through every attraction and backstage corridor. No one is safe, and no one is who they appear to be.
At the center of the mystery is Tiger Tom, a volatile tiger trainer dismissed by many as reckless, foolish, and emotionally unstable. Beneath his harmless façade, however, hides a calculating predator fueled by obsession and resentment. Operating in plain sight, Tiger Tom conceals his crimes behind illusion, feeding victims to his tigers and hiding evidence within the carnival’s labyrinth of secrets. As his influence deepens, he manipulates those around him—especially his protégé Able, a troubled young man drawn into a deadly cycle of violence.
Meanwhile, Lizzy “Darlin’” Astley becomes the emotional anchor of the family, fighting to hold together the people she loves as fear spreads through Carnival Town. Philip Astley V struggles to maintain control of the empire his ancestors built, while psychic Rosaleen senses a supernatural force tied to the murders—one that suggests the past may not be buried at all. Ghostly presences, including the lingering spirits of former performers Bill-Bo and Betty-Bo, blur the line between reality and haunting memory.
As the investigation unfolds, the carnival becomes both sanctuary and trap. Every attraction hides another secret, every performer conceals another motive, and the killer remains dangerously close. With each episode revealing a new death, clue, or betrayal, the mystery deepens into a sweeping saga of family loyalty, forbidden love, and inherited darkness.
