By Matthew Ruth

GENRE: Science Fiction, Music
LOGLINE:

A lost young guitarist discovers a vintage Gibson once owned by 27 Club legends and begins receiving letters from beyond the grave—pushing him to confront his fears, honor the past, and choose between fading out or finding his true voice.

SYNOPSIS:

JJ Graves, a 27-year-old musician, is running out of hope. Years of playing small gigs have left him stuck in a cycle of self-doubt, and his dreams of making it big seem more distant than ever. He drowns his frustration in sarcasm, late nights, and half-hearted performances, but deep down, he knows he’s losing himself. When he stumbles upon an old Gibson guitar at a flea market, he’s drawn to it, unaware that it will change his life. Inside the case, he finds a collection of aged postcards, all addressed to legendary musicians who died at 27.

After a night of drinking, JJ scrawls replies on the postcards and mails them off as a joke. But days later, something impossible happens—he starts receiving letters back. Signed by Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and other members of the infamous 27 Club, the letters seem to offer cryptic advice, urging him to find his voice and reignite his passion for music. As JJ grapples with the mystery of the letters, he also struggles with his fractured relationship with Andrea, a sharp-witted ex who once believed in his talent more than he did.

Meanwhile, his best friend Jeremy—a cynical but loyal bassist—watches JJ’s spiral with equal parts frustration and concern. As JJ’s music starts to evolve, he finds unexpected success, but also new pressures, temptations, and the looming question: is he finally breaking through, or is he falling into the same tragic fate as those who came before him? When faced with the choice between self-destruction and redemption, JJ must decide whether to embrace his second chance or risk becoming another lost legend.
