When the god Apollo materializes in the modern world, he forms an unlikely bond with a grieving young woman and her twin brother, only to be drawn into a violent conspiracy of illegal genetic experimentation involving his ancient nemesis Python, and the Sicilian mafia, forcing Apollo to choose between divine obedience and human love as destiny, justice, and sacrifice collide.
SYNOPSIS:
During the lively summer festival on a sun-soaked Sicilian island, where ancient Greek ruins whisper secrets of the past, a newly erected statue of Apollo draws the attention of Lily and Billy, a pair of twenty-year-old twins. Lily, a beautiful history enthusiast, is captivated by its realistic craft as she steps closer, but to her surprise, the god of light winks at her.
Marcelino, a young and charming puppeteer, performs a street puppet show that piques the twins' interest. Marcelino's puppet depicts the mythological story of Apollo rescuing his mother, Leto, jailed by the serpent Python.
Beneath the ruins’ surface lies a high-tech underground lab hiding dark secrets—secrets that trigger a chain of events pulling the twins into the core of the mystery:
1. Two analysts clash over their groundbreaking research. Anna is excited by their discoveries, while Roberta fears they are meddling with forces beyond their control.
2. The twins’ ambitious parents, George and Martha—renowned researchers—are under intense pressure from the ruthless mafia boss Aldo Baldini, who has funded their DNA experiments in desperate hope of ensuring an heir with Helena, his sterile and frail wife.
3. The twins share a tender farewell moment with their parents before tragedy strikes.
4. Simon, a selfish and hypocritical chemist, secretly plants a malicious virus in the lab’s secure network, causing system instability.
5. As George and Martha work tirelessly in the lab, two simultaneous catastrophes occur—a seismic event shakes Apollo’s pedestal above the lab, while Simon’s malware corrupts the system. It culminates in an explosive disaster that destroys the facility to ashes.
In the aftermath, George and Martha’s lifeless bodies were found in the wreckage. Unnoticed, Simon steals a USB drive from George’s neck. That night, Apollo appears in the twins’ room in flesh. "A corrupt force murdered your parents," declares solemnly, and enlisting them to fight it.
At their parents' funeral, Simon confronts the twins with an ultimatum from Baldini: $100,000 for a sample of Lily's cerebrospinal fluid, or Baldini will file a negligence suit against their deceased parents, tarnishing their legacy. Enraged by this threat, Billy, the spontaneous and nervous sibling, attacks Simon in a fit of fury. Amid the chaos, Apollo secretly plants a tracking device on Simon's glasses. Later, the device reveals secret meetings of Professor Adderios—a shadowy and dangerous figure who orchestrated the lab explosion and struck a sinister deal with Baldini: an heir, in exchange for criminal services.
Apollo and the twins escape to Marcelino's remote shack on a secluded islet for safety. Alone, an undeniable attraction ignites between Apollo and Lily, leading to an intimate scene upstairs. As they drift to sleep exhausted after their passionate encounter, Apollo dreams of fighting to protect innocent villagers—a dream that takes a disturbing turn when Lily appears among the dead, thousands of years earlier.
Weeks later, their refuge is suddenly invaded by Officers Tony and Carla, who claim they are taking them into custody for protection, and they are transported to land via helicopter, then in a multiple-police-SUV motorcade. However, this sequence ends with a shocking betrayal: Officer Carla reveals herself to be a cruel traitor, holds her partner hostage, and hijacks the vehicle carrying Lily and Marcelino. At the same time, a coordinated attack occurs—a truck T-bones the SUV carrying Billy, Tony, and Apollo, while a rocket-propelled grenade destroys the lead vehicle. Amid the chaos, Apollo slips away unnoticed from the scene, while Billy and Officer Tony are hospitalized.
From atop a cliff overlooking the sea, Baldini—the mastermind behind the kidnapping—forces Carla to push her teammate, Steve, into the water as proof of her loyalty. To save Marcelino’s life, Lily makes a daring sacrifice: she agrees to give her cerebrospinal fluid to Baldini’s wife in exchange for Marcelino's freedom.
Baldini is willing to do anything to please Adderios so he can have a child, including engaging in human trafficking and recruiting refugee women and their newborns as guinea pigs for Adderios' genetic experiments.
As Adderios prepares for the transfusion, he reveals his serpentine form and identifies himself as Python. Lily, barely conscious, witnesses the terrifying scene.
In an ancient Greek temple, Python crucifies Lily and connects her to an IV filled with a dangerous serum. Apollo arrives to confront his nemesis, but faces cruel terms for their showdown: Lily is pregnant with Apollo’s child, and every blow he lands on Python, Anna will administer a deadly dose of serum to Lily. To protect them, Apollo endures Python’s brutal assault without fighting back. Just as Python seems poised to win, Marcelino and Billy—arm in a cast—storm into the temple and rescue Lily, knocking out Anna in the process… Then, Python triggers the bottom and detonates a hidden explosive device.
The story ends years later in the island’s temple square, where an eight-year-old boy named Zeus Junior meets another boy his age, Aldo Junior, who has come with his mother to visit Lily. As the boys—almost half-brothers—play together, Helena gestures toward the restored statue of Apollo and asks, “Is he coming back?” Lily smiles knowingly at Apollo and gives him a playful wink, bringing the story full circle in an evocative conclusion that fills the audience with hope for generations to come.
