In the late 18th century, a closeted female cartographer disguises herself as a man to join an expedition to survey Africa, but things takes a turn for the worse when they come across an explorer stranded in the jungle.
SYNOPSIS:
This is a sweeping, bold, and deeply personal adventure tale, clearly influenced by Apocalypse Now, The Lost City of Z, and The English Patient—but with a fierce feminist and existential undercurrent.
Ambrose Keen, a sensitive mapmaker with a concealed identity (Amber Rose), accepts an offer to join a high-stakes exploration of Africa. Haunted by colonialism, mysticism, and their own gender identity, Ambrose navigates a savage crew, a seductive medic, a chaotic philosopher, and a jungle that seems more alive than any man on the journey.
The script balances swashbuckling action, character-driven emotion, historical critique, and moments of surreal, almost mythic horror.
