SYNOPSIS:

The story follows Royal Navy Commander Geoffrey Spicer-Simson as he leads the Naval Africa Expedition to take control of Lake Tanganyika from German forces during World War I. Spicer assembles a motley crew and transports two motor boats overland to the lake. After launching the boats, named Mimi and Toutou, they engage in several battles with German gunships, eventually capturing the Kingani and renaming it the Fifi. Spicer leads further attacks, sinking German ships and solidifying Allied control over the strategic lake despite his eccentric leadership style that often perplexes his own men. Ultimately his expedition is successful in its objective, although his unconventional tactics garner criticism back in England.
