GOOD LUCK RUSSELL

GOOD LUCK RUSSELL
By Larry Levin

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

When a grumpy 70-something is forced to rely on a relentlessly optimistic but wildly unqualified caregiver, chaos erupts in a three-story condo filled with sarcasm, spilled root beer, and an accidental parade of dogs.

SYNOPSIS:

Good Luck, Russell is a single-camera comedy about Russell, a sharp-tongued, fiercely independent 70-something who’s just been released from a nursing facility into the reluctant care of his daughter Jennifer — and the wildly unqualified in-home aide she hires to help him: Good Luck, a tall, cheerful, walking disaster in sneakers.

Set in a chaotic three-story condo in Orange County, the show follows Russell as he battles for control over his house, his independence, and his root beer — only to be constantly derailed by Good Luck’s enthusiastic blunders, Jennifer’s overworked energy, and her relentlessly upbeat boyfriend Larry, who co-runs their dog-training business.

From misdelivered medical supplies and misidentified condiments (“Maple is a tree root, right?”) to runaway Pomeranians and surprise yoga interventions, the series mines absurdity from aging, caregiving, and the dysfunctional love that holds families together — even when they drive each other nuts.

Think The Kominsky Method meets Community — a show about growing old, helping badly, and somehow surviving the day… whether you like each other or not.
