In a post–World War III world, Mikki — a unique custom-built pleasure android, designed for obedience and intimacy — belongs to the wife of a powerful crime boss. But when he unexpectedly falls in love with a young actress, his gift of free will drives him to break his core programming. To save the woman he chose, Mikki goes to the ultimate extreme — self-destruction — because only through sacrifice can he truly become human.

SYNOPSIS:

After the Third World War, humanity was thrown a hundred years backward. Among the few surviving luxuries of the past is Mikki — a custom-built pleasure android, one of a kind, designed to fulfill the need for love. Before her death, his former owner gave him a rare gift: the ability to choose whom and how to love.

In a world where sincerity has become a luxury and love a privilege of the wealthy, Mikki becomes an object of priceless desire. Rich women, including the married ones, compete for a chance to possess him. One of them is Magda, the wife of a powerful crime boss named John. While her husband is preoccupied with business, Magda enjoys Mikki like an expensive toy.

But thanks to the gift from his creator, Mikki is capable of something no other robot can do — making a genuine choice. He falls in love with Laura, a young actress longing for fame but disillusioned with people. Mikki approaches her gently, with care and patience, until Laura finally believes that he is capable of real emotion.

Magda finds out about the robot’s feelings for Laura. Blinded by jealousy, she tries to destroy Mikki, but John intervenes — he doesn’t want to lose such a rare and valuable asset. Upon meeting Laura himself, John becomes infatuated and promises her "real Hollywood," taking advantage of her innocence and dreams. Laura becomes his mistress, unaware of the danger closing in.

Mikki suffers, but remains loyal to his chosen love. Internally, he struggles with the conflict between his obedience protocols and his awakening sense of humanity. Meanwhile, Laura gets too close to John’s criminal secrets and becomes a liability. John decides she must be eliminated.

Learning of the threat, Mikki comes to her rescue. The two escape, taking John’s money with them. Enraged, the mafia boss sends men after them. In the final showdown, Mikki kills John and his henchmen — violating the robot’s core directive never to harm a human.

Now hunted by the authorities, Mikki understands that the only way for Laura to start over is for him to sacrifice himself. He surrenders voluntarily. Deemed dangerous and defective, Mikki is destroyed as a rogue machine.

Later, Laura receives a message containing a flash drive with Mikki’s preserved consciousness. If she wishes, he could return — in any form. But Mikki chose death, because he had learned to be human. And whether he was truly alive — only she knows.
