A mysterious woman in all black appears without explanation in a neighborhood community park in a quiet Oregon town. As fear transforms neighbors from curious into a violent mob, the only person who responds with kindness becomes the reason the visitor came in the first place.
SYNOPSIS:
ACT ONE
Meredith Major, a financially struggling single mother in Pendleton, Oregon, maintains a quiet, disciplined life while raising her seventeen-year-old twins, Matthew and Molly. Her routine is shattered when she discovers a silent, motionless woman dressed in black standing in the neighborhood park. The stranger, Orutoh Ni, neither speaks nor reacts, yet an unsettling encounter leaves Meredith's arthritic hand mysteriously pain-free. As neighbors gather, fear and suspicion spread. While the town views Orutoh as a threat, Meredith alone responds with compassion, protecting her from harassment, sharing an umbrella through a violent storm, and ultimately feeding and caring for her. When Sheriff Wallace attempts to arrest and then shoot Orutoh, an impossible series of events culminates in his own death. Before the stunned crowd, Orutoh reveals a supernatural ability to free Meredith from the burdens that have defined her life, leaving Meredith profoundly transformed.
ACT TWO
The town descends into panic. Police investigations, media attention, and growing protests surround the park as Meredith's family struggles to understand the dramatic change in her personality. Free from fear, stress, and pain, Meredith begins speaking with serene certainty, preparing Matthew and Molly for adulthood while quietly arranging her affairs. As hostility toward Orutoh intensifies, Meredith returns to the park, where Orutoh reveals that Meredith's compassion was never accidental. She came specifically for the one human being who chose kindness over fear. In a transcendent exchange witnessed by an increasingly divided town, Meredith discovers the full truth of Orutoh's purpose, culminating in the shocking revelation that Orutoh possesses no eyes beneath the bangs that have concealed her face.
ACT THREE
A violent mob gathers outside Meredith's home demanding Orutoh's death. Meredith calmly walks through the furious crowd, protected by an unseen force that prevents anyone from harming her. The confrontation escalates when a burning road flare ignites the dry park, surrounding Meredith and Orutoh in a ring of fire. As protesters flee and Matthew and Molly watch helplessly from their porch, Meredith willingly joins Orutoh. Their final communion unleashes an otherworldly transformation as Orutoh's black garment envelops them both. When the cloth collapses to the ground, both women have vanished without a trace. Left behind are Meredith's running shoes, an empty garment, and two grieving children who must accept that their mother's final act of compassion carried her beyond the world they knew.
