EP. 01 of 07: In 1972 suburban Oregon, a charming 19-year-old neighborhood boy fresh out of high school has a secret affair with the lady across the street, and what was supposed to be just a summer fling becomes something far more complicated and far more intriguing.
SYNOPSIS:
In the summer of 1972, nineteen-year-old Jake Johnson drifts through his final days of adolescence in the quiet suburb of Gladstone, Oregon. His mother, Janice, beams with pride at her son’s graduation, unaware that across the street, her old high-school rival, the alluring Mrs. Jennings, has re-entered their orbit.
A chance exchange between Jake and Mrs. Jennings sparks an attraction that blurs every moral boundary. What begins as flirtation deepens into a full-blown secret affair—passionate, reckless, and intoxicating. As the summer unfolds, their connection grows stronger, until a romantic getaway exposes cracks in their fantasy and awakens Mrs. Jennings’ buried shame.
Back home, Janice senses her son’s secrecy but doesn’t yet see its shape. The illusion collapses when Jake returns and finds a forgotten Polaroid of his mother and Mrs. Jennings as teenage cheerleaders—best friends once inseparable. The discovery reframes everything.
Seven months later, Mrs. Jennings appears on Janice’s doorstep—pregnant—closing Episode 1 on a haunting, irreversible revelation.
