LOGLINE:

In 1789 Saint-Domingue, a brilliant mixed-race healer forced to live as a colonial official’s courtesan risks everything when she uncovers a political coup and begins a dangerous double life—playing both sides in a deadly game of espionage, revolution, and survival.

SYNOPSIS:

Set in 1789 Saint-Domingue—on the eve of the world’s first successful slave revolt—Liberté follows Sabine Beauregard, a brilliant mixed-race healer forced into the role of courtesan to a powerful colonial official. While France is consumed by its own revolution, Saint-Domingue simmers with tension between the enslaved, the free people of color, and the ruling white elite. When Sabine’s closest ally is murdered, she uncovers evidence of a political coup and finds herself without protection—caught between dangerous men and a revolution she can no longer ignore.

To survive, Sabine begins a double life: publicly playing the obedient mistress while secretly manipulating colonial leaders, smuggling weapons, and sending coded messages to the resistance. As alliances shift and rebellion brews, Sabine must decide whether freedom lies in escape—or in the fight itself.

Liberté is a historical drama rooted in espionage, identity, and female power. With a slow-burn revolutionary arc and a morally complex heroine, it reframes colonial history through the eyes of a woman determined to break the systems that were built to contain her.
