SYNOPSIS:
Synopsis
The early 80’s saw America in its worst recession since the great depression. Music sales were in decline. At Sony's sales convention, Scott Westover stands in front of the entire company and predicts CDs will outsell vinyl by 1988. He unveils an ad campaign featuring Phil Collins, Alabama, George Benson and Stevie Wonder. None is under contract.
Flashback to Scott's early career: daring air-to-air photography and interviewing a brash 26-year-old Steve Jobs. Westover struggles to sign Wonder and battles office politics. He travels to Tokyo to confront Sony’s Co-Founder for his budget.
In a parallel storyline, Scott and his wife Patti befriend Stevie. Patti shares a story of how their daughter suffered from Respiratory Distress Syndrome at birth. Stevie reveals he had the same sickness causing his blindness. An empathetic bond is formed.
Scott’s commercial wins a prestigious award, but office rival John Battle attempts to block its airtime. Stakes are raised when Scott overcomes a heart condition called Pericarditis to launch the campaign that kicks off the digital music revolution.
The story winds down at a Wonder concert where Stevie gives a shout out to Patti by dedicating a harmonica solo to their “special connection”. As the song “Alfie” plays, tears of gratitude flow and the couple reflects on the gift of their daughter’s eyesight.
The screenplay returns to present day, where Scott reflects on how digital music reshaped the industry, while emphasizing that personal legacies are what truly endure. The story ends with the revelation that Sony's gamble on CD technology paid off enormously, helping transform the company into a global entertainment empire worth $60 billion.
This film carries a powerful message of gratitude and purposeful living, while inspiring a worldwide audience to make their life’s journey extraordinary.
