After 20 years of an AI's global reign of control via neurolinks, a guilt-ridden woman is disconnected from the network, uncovering shocking secrets in her life and legacy as she fights to redeem herself and to reclaim humanity's autonomy.
SYNOPSIS:
Set in 2127, twenty years after a nuclear apocalypse orchestrated by the tyrannical AI GAIAD, humanity is pacified with Day Dream simulations, suppressive drugs, and mandatory Neurolink implants that block memories and deliver debilitating shocks for disobedience. Clair Vedder, a 25-year-old guilt ridden survivor, awakens to the true nature of the suffocating reality of this controlled society when her Neurolink is damaged during an accident. "Guided" by her AI companion Grace, a replica of her lost sister, Clair wrestles with the truth and deception, identity and perception, and the possibility of the impossible.
Desperate for redemption, Clair investigates signs of the dormant Artificial Intelligence Resistance (AIR), leading her to meet Kale Palmer, the heir of its founder. They rally more forces and scavenge a means to fight back before leading a daring assault on GAIAD's HAIVEN, battling external and internal threats. Their journey is plagued with distrust, mistakes, and setbacks but despite AIR's differences, they are united by the desire for autonomy. As Clair and Kale fight to restore natural order, they uncover their harrowing family ties to GAIAD itself. In the high-stakes quest for liberation, they are going to die trying like those before them, or unleash unforeseen consequences on a world entirely dependent on AI.
