SYNOPSIS:
Olivia, a woman in the modern day, begins experiencing vivid and haunting glimpses of a past life — memories of Elinor, a woman from 16th-century England in the year 1562, whose tragic love story was torn apart by her abusive husband, Edward. Elinor’s passionate relationship with Thomas, a third officer serving under the Queen, was interrupted when Thomas was sent abroad on a mission, forbidden from saying his goodbyes. During his absence, Elinor received no word from him. Unbeknownst to her, Thomas's letters were intercepted by Edward, who manipulated her into believing Thomas had abandoned her, tricking her into marrying him instead.
Two years later, Elinor encounters Thomas at a fair, and the strong attraction between them is undeniable. But Elinor’s initial reaction is not one of joy. She’s furious — angry for the years of silence. Yet as they talk, Elinor begins to realize that Thomas never abandoned her. In fact, he had written many letters to her. Her anger softens into heartbreak as the truth sinks in. Edward, watching from a distance, sees their connection and realizes that their love has never faded. The fair is not only a reunion — it’s a painful reminder of the love they lost. Thomas is horrified to learn that Elinor was kept in the dark about his silence, and that she is now married to a tyrant who will never allow her to choose her own path.
Olivia confides in her sister, Samantha, about the strange memories she’s experiencing. Samantha advises her to observe the patterns in the visions, suggesting that the key to understanding them might lie in those recurring moments. As Olivia struggles to make sense of these unsettling flashes, she becomes increasingly drawn to Stewart, a police officer and K9 handler. Their bond deepens when they go on a hike near a secluded lake with their dogs, Tagon and Roncho. In the stillness of nature, Olivia feels a strong sense of familiarity, as if she and Stewart have known each other far longer than their time together.
But her growing happiness is overshadowed by the obsessive presence of Ryan, her dangerously possessive ex, a newly promoted investigator, whose behavior mirrors that of Edward. When Olivia realizes history seems to be repeating itself, fear sets in — she is certain that, like Thomas, Stewart is in grave danger.
Days before Thomas’s departure, Elinor tells him she found his letters hidden in Edward’s chamber. Thomas promises her that his love is true, even though he must leave for the Siege of Le Havre. Elinor promises to wait for him. Thomas promises this is not the end. But their love is doomed. Unable to bear the thought of losing control over Elinor, Edward takes matters into his own hands. Along the shore, he shoots Thomas. From the top of a hill, Elinor watches in shock as Thomas falls to the ground, and sees Edward hide his gun before walking away.
At Stewart’s house, Olivia and Stewart consummate their love, their bond deepening in the quiet moments before the power suddenly cuts to darkness. Stewart steps outside to check the perimeter. While waiting inside, Olivia experiences glimpses of Elinor, who tells Edward that she witnessed Thomas's murder and attempts to escape her room. But it’s too late. Edward, unwilling to let her leave with the knowledge she possesses, kills her in a final act of possessive rage. Refusing to let history repeat itself, Olivia slips out the back door and hides behind Stewart’s truck.
Ryan, gun in hand, waits, hidden behind a tree. Before he can shoot Stewart, Olivia’s dog, Tagon, spots him. With a snarl, Tagon attacks Ryan but is shot and collapses before Olivia’s eyes. As Stewart runs to help Tagon, Ryan’s jealousy reaches its breaking point, and he raises his gun. Quietly, Olivia retrieves her assembled takedown bow from the truck. She takes aim — the arrow strikes Ryan’s hand, throwing off his shot. The bullet hits Stewart but misses his heart. Stewart collapses, unconscious and bleeding. Olivia runs inside to grab her phone, where she and Ryan struggle. Stewart regains consciousness and crawls to the back door. He manages to open it, allowing Roncho to leap in and tackle Ryan, saving Olivia just in time.
Olivia, now at peace, travels with Stewart to the Port of Plymouth, England. She stands on the shore where it all began, her eyes turning toward the distant mount — the place where Elinor once stood, watching the man she loved die. Stewart stands beside her, feeling the weight of the moment, though he doesn’t know the whole story. In the stillness, Olivia feels a deep respect for Elinor, a woman whose story has shaped her own journey. She smiles softly, grateful to have broken the long cycle of fear and tragedy.

Sylvia Melanson, the reincarnation angle and echoes of a tragic love story add depth and intrigue, while the threat of history repeating itself creates strong narrative momentum. To strengthen it, you could clarify the tone: is it more of a thriller, a romance, or a supernatural drama? Also, specifying what “confront the past” entails (e.g., uncovering a mystery, breaking a curse) would add clarity and make the stakes feel even more urgent. Still, the premise is evocative and layered with emotional stakes.
Ashley Renee Smith, thank you SO much for your helpful comments. I have reworked my logline. I hope it makes the overall story clearer... I hope :)
