In this town, the stage is the only way out.
SYNOPSIS:
Stealing the Scene by Francesco Bonelli
In a sleepy Italian town where time seems to have stopped, the arrival of a traveling theatre troupe shakes up lives long resigned to stillness. Funded by an aging Countess longing for a past love, the troupe’s presence awakens forgotten passions, hidden rivalries, and long-buried dreams.
At the heart of it all is Matilde, a bright but stuck young woman who sees the play as her one chance to escape a place that has never seen her. Her rival, Maura—Marcello’s disillusioned wife—wants the same role, but for a very different reason: to finally reclaim her life, even if it means stealing something more than just the spotlight.
Around them, love triangles ignite, secrets unravel, and an unlikely heist is planned to save the ailing patriarch of the troupe. In this bittersweet comedy of ambition and redemption, everyone is playing a part—onstage and off—in a desperate attempt to rewrite their fate.
Because in this town, landing a role on stage might just be the only way out.
