Ten years after a crash erases her past, Darcy Williams finds belonging in an online army defending a harassed pop star — and unknowingly leads it toward the predator who engineered her amnesia, and his.
SYNOPSIS:
Darcy Williams (24) has rebuilt a decade of life around a memory she cannot access — a crash that killed her family and fractured her identity. When a single defensive comment about harassed pop star Lio draws the attention of Stand Strong, an online collective built to protect him, she finally finds a place to belong.
Belonging has a cost. Stand Strong's campaigns escalate from confrontation to intimidation, and Darcy — controlled, capable, dissociated — becomes its most effective instrument. At the same time, Lio's search for his own erased childhood surfaces a name buried in Darcy's sealed records: McGain, the man who abused him and once had legal custody of her.
The two searches collide in a parking garage. Darcy kills the man responsible for both their stolen identities; her closest friend is shot and paralyzed in the crossfire. In a hospital corridor, Lio finds Darcy before the police do — and she finally remembers his name.
