Cupid competes with the most devilish angels in Heaven to become the one and only God of Desire.
SYNOPSIS:
Act I - Cupid’s comedic journey takes him from birth to childhood, when he is discounted as small and chubby, on to his trials as an angel trainee and subsequently, the growth of his burning passion to earn the title of God of Desire and the love of Heaven’s greatest beauty. He grows up in Heaven, a place that cannot possibly be everything to everyone as mortals think of it. In fact, Heaven has its’ own odd rules like we do and the tough guy enforcer of those rules lays down the law for The Big Guy to whom the enforcer is always answerable. The first hurdle he must clear is making his quota of love matches by piercing couples’ hearts with his trusty bow and arrow. However, unlike other angel trainees, the lovable cherub is too nice a guy, concerned with the individuals he pairs, resulting in his failure to reach his goal.
Act II - Conflict arises as he contends with a cast of zany characters that throw one obstacle after another in his path. He learns to overcome these potholes in life with the assistance of his mother, Goddess of the Lovelorn, who writes a column for the heartsick in The Heavenly Times, his father, Messenger of the Gods, and the girl of his dreams, who is no empty beauty, but a jack of all trades who frequently makes household repairs that his father and he either cannot or are not inspired to attempt. His dreams and aspirations are always dampened by his nemesis, the son of his father’s boss, a young man of prodigious physical attributes, who correctly assumes that women will fall at his feet.
Act III - Learning from those in his life, especially his mother, he gradually builds his confidence and stages his own Tony Robbins-esque live self-help session that meets with rip-roaring success, resulting in personal and financial success. The unlikely hero ultimately wins the title of God of Desire as well as his true love by demonstrating his humanity as opposed to the self-serving nature of his nemesis and he returns home triumphant in every way possible, safe in the knowledge that he finally knows what it takes to become an angel, delighting in the love of his parents and especially Heaven’s greatest beauty.
