A rising music exec to prove herself must reunite a legendary rock band, and its reclusive frontman, for one final comeback, forcing them all to confront the music, the past, and a love left behind.
SYNOPSIS:
STILL ROCK AND ROLL
Genre: Romantic Comedy / Music / Road Trip
When ambitious music executive Beth Russo pitches a bold revival of long-lost rock legend Jack Wilder, she’s given one shot to make it happen. The catch? Jack hasn’t performed in over 40 years, his band is scattered across the country, and he’s become a bitter recluse with a guitar and a hangover.
With the help of Jack’s reluctant, sarcastic nephew Bradley ,Beth hits the road to reunite the band, now PTA moms, off-the-grid bassists, and synth-playing mystics, one colorful stop at a time. But as the music reignites, so do the ghosts of Jack’s past, including the love he lost the night his career imploded: Haley Russo, the woman he wrote his biggest hit about... and the one who vanished with his unborn child.
As Jack faces the truth he ran from, Beth must navigate the crumbling line between legacy and love, and prove she’s more than just the boss’s daughter. With a sold-out comeback show on the line and a second chance waiting in the wings, Still Rock and Roll is a soulful, funny, and heart-swelling story about chasing the dream, letting go of the past, and finally finishing the song.

A Rock Rom-Com. I like it, Gary Laney! I think the only thing your logline needs is why the exec is reuniting the band.

Gary Laney, This logline strikes an emotional chord with its mix of ambition, nostalgia, and personal reckoning. The music industry backdrop and the idea of reuniting a legendary rock band, with a reclusive frontman no less, offer great cinematic and dramatic potential. The stakes for the rising music exec are clear, and the reference to “a love left behind” hints at deeper emotional layers. To sharpen the logline, consider slightly rewording the structure for smoother flow (e.g., “To prove herself, a rising music exec must reunite a legendary rock band and its reclusive frontman…”). A hint at what’s keeping the band apart could also boost intrigue.
