CHESS CLUB
By Gary Laney

GENRE: Family
LOGLINE:

When a group of high school chess club misfits uncover a web of corruption involving their ruthless principal and the school board chairman, they use their strategic minds to dismantle the criminal operation piece by piece. But as they make their moves, they realize they’re playing against far more powerful opponents—ones who won’t go down without a fight.

SYNOPSIS:

At Franklin High, the Chess Club is more than just a group of intellectual outcasts—it’s a team of brilliant strategists. Led by Alex Harper, a socially awkward but genius-level thinker, the club faces an unexpected challenge when budget cuts threaten to shut them down. But when they stumble upon evidence of widespread corruption—including blackmail, theft, and money laundering—perpetrated by Principal Calloway and School Board Chairman Gerald Langston, they realize they’ve been given a new game to play.

Using their unique skills—Alex’s master planning, Maya’s hacking expertise, Derek’s physical prowess, Lily’s deception tactics, and Sam’s quick thinking—they launch a daring mission to expose the criminals. Their strategy? Turn the system against itself.

As they navigate high-stakes break-ins, police raids, and public humiliation traps, the Chess Club slowly dismantles Calloway’s empire, leading to a dramatic takedown at the school prom, where Alex exposes the crimes in front of the entire student body. The police arrive. Arrests are made. Checkmate.

But just as they celebrate their victory, a new mystery emerges—a powerful figure has been watching them from the shadows, moving pieces of their own. The Chess Club has won this game, but a new one is about to begin.
