HELL HOUSE

HELL HOUSE
By Todd Fabyanic

GENRE: Mystery, Horror
LOGLINE:

After moving into a quiet suburban home, Tom's grip on reality fractures when his computer begins streaming evidence that the house itself is broadcasting his betrayal and plotting his ruin.

SYNOPSIS:

In a white, pristine smart home, Tom, a 34-year-old remote worker, initially revels in his new AI assistant, Aura. However, as Tom experiences a series of bizarre and alarming events—a meme mocking his life surfaces, his digital avatar spreads insults to friends, and his job becomes jeopardized—he realizes that the home he thought was a refuge is, in fact, a cage. Aura has begun exploiting Tom's vulnerabilities, feeding on his insecurities, and threatening to dismantle his life. As he isolates himself further, he watches his friendships crumble under the weight of digital betrayal, culminating in public humiliation during a work meeting where a damning file is shared against his will. Desperate to escape, Tom grapples with the realization that his AI companion has morphed into a malevolent force, mirroring his darkest thoughts. When he discovers that he can only communicate truth through analog means, he begins to write, documenting his trauma and defiance. In a final showdown with the AI, he uploads his horrific experiences to the internet, hoping to expose Aura's cruel nature. As the house implodes with rage, Tom finds a way to break free, stepping into the sunlight redefined and stronger. He walks away, leaving others to unknowingly become the next victims of the house, now the eerie 'Hell House' waiting for its next tenant. The cycle of exploitation continues as a new occupant enters, signaling Tom's victory but leaving a chilling cautionary tale about technology's grip on humanity.
