A boorish Catholic mother teams up with her childhood friends to save her family from the machinations of an ancient deity and his incurable case of narcissism.  

SYNOPSIS:

ROCHELLE HAYWARD has lived a life of pain and suffering after she was used by the demonic entity known as BAPHOMET to murder her abusive father. Thirty years later, her faith in God has continued on a downward spiral, leading to her getting a counselor, drinking, and ignoring JAKE, her middle child out of the four (SETH, JENNY, and BELLE). Jake, angry at the lack of attention he receives from his mother, goes to his friend LEE for help. He leads Jake to Baphomet, promising that the demon will grant Jake any wish he wants. Jake, eager to regain his mother's good graces, reluctantly agrees to contact Baphomet via an Ouija Board. The séance, however, doesn't go as planned. Baphomet kills Lee, which brings the attention of private investigator COLTON LEWIS of the police department, who believes Lee was murdered by one of the children due to circumstantial evidence. Rochelle, furious that Jake and his siblings used the board, drowns her sorrows in liquor until Jake manages to convince Rochelle to face her fears and stop hiding behind the bottle. With the help of her close friend, SHEILA, Rochelle seeks the help of her close friend and pastor, FATHER JOSEPH DONAHUE. Through their knowledge of Catholic rituals, Joey and DEACON THOMAS believe that using the act of transubstantiation will immobilize Baphomet long enough for either of them to kill it. Rochelle, doubtful in her faith, agrees with Sheila's blessing and tries to blow off some steam at the local mall while Joey and Thomas prepare for the ritual. Unfortunately, Baphomet follows them there, in the guise of Seth's idol, AVRIL LAVIGNE, and kills Seth in a magnificent but gruesome spectacle of a concert that leaves the family shell-shocked and traumatized. Back at the church, the family and Joey are interrupted once again by Colton, who whisks the family away to the police station for further questioning on Lee's murder. There, Baphomet appears, as both himself (in Jake's shadow) and Belle. He murders Rochelle's husband ISAAC, and their friend TAYLOR (who was part of the seance) and TAYLOR'S MOTHER, before escaping with Belle. Unsure of where to turn, help arrives in the form of the director of the FBI'S supernatural division, MEGHAN CONNOLLY, and her team of paranormal experts. The group reconvenes at the church, just in time for the ritual to start. Despite the lives lost in the following carnage, Rochelle, with some help from her mother, NANCY, the FBI, and her faith in God, distracts Baphomet long enough with the ritual for Jake to kill him with a bullet to the head. One month later, as Rochelle, her remaining children, Sheila, and Colton leave to start a new chapter with Meghan's organization, a new sinister force awakens, ready to finish what Baphomet left over.
