A pious mother fights to save her family from a demon that's killing off her generation one by one.
SYNOPSIS:
Rochelle Hayward has lived a life of pain and trauma after Baphomet, an ancient deity, influenced her to murder her abusive father many years ago. Now, thirty years later, Rochelle struggles to be a perfect mother to her four demanding children, punk rocker Seth (17), precarious Eliza (9), innocent Belle (6), and middle-of-the-road Jake (12), who bears a strong resemblance to Rochelle's father, Robert. Jake, fed up with the lack of attention, seeks advice from his best friend Liam, who, oddly enough, leads him straight to Baphomet. Promising the attention he craves, Jake, Liam, Eliza, Seth, and their friend Taylor try to summon him through an Ouija board after school, but it ultimately ends up killing Liam, too, shocking their friends. Fearing the worst, Rochelle seeks help from her two close friends, Sheila, and Father Joseph Donahue, a wayward priest/exorcist with his own set of beliefs. Meanwhile, rookie detective Colton Lewis (a devout non-believer in anything supernatural) investigates Liam's murder and begins to suspect that one of the children may be responsible for his death. As his investigation continues, Joey suggests that the family spend some quality time together, believing their love for each other will keep Baphomet at bay. Rochelle and Isaac agree and take the children (along with Taylor and Sheila) to the mall to buy the children some new toys. However, Baphomet reappears and chases the family too a surprise Avril Lavigne concert where Seth is forced to sing to free his family. He does, and ends up being ripped apart in front of a live audience, to the horror of his mother. The family and Sheila return to the church where Father Donahue offers them a solution, transubstantiation, or the act of turning the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ. As he prepares for the ritual, Colton arrives and informs Rochelle and Isaac that he wants to question Eliza and Jake. At the interrogation, Baphomet attacks the family and kills Jake, to the shock of the family and to the surprise of Colton. He, now a firm believer, agrees to help the family defeat the demon, and he and the others regroup at the church to prepare for the ritual. There, Baphomet possesses a vulnerable Rochelle and reveals his reasons for tormenting Rochelle and her family; attention, all in the name of getting noticed by someone, whether it be God or Lucifer. Father Donahue and Colton manage to keep Baphomet talking enough for the pair to subdue him with a knife and force the bread and wine down his throat. Before he succumbs, Rochelle, in a moment of strength, gives her children a tearful goodbye and lets herself go. Colton then shoots her dead with a bullet to the head to prevent Baphomet from returning, which works. A month later, Isaac and the remaining children say their goodbyes to Colton and Sheila and move away to start a new life. Father Donahue, however, is paid a visit by an unexpected man, thirsty for vengeance, and is subsequently met with a gruesome end before he can escape.
