The idea that every relationship ended because the partners cheated with the same woman is already a compelling and darkly comedic premise. But what really caught my attention is the reveal that their connection extends beyond this lifetime. That twist transforms the story from a relationship comedy into something much more unexpected and intriguing.

I also like that the concept seems to have both comedic and emotional potential. Depending on how it's explored, it could raise interesting questions about fate, patterns, identity, and whether some relationships are destined to repeat themselves across different lifetimes.

This one was inspired by a meme I saw yesterday where a girl posted this same thing happening to her, and I simply took it further. Asked myself “what if, rather than a soulmate, you have someone you’re destined to troll/be trolled by in every lifetime?” and I could see all the power dynamics between them. This is Life’s Work #9 and the only one with social satire roots so I’m pretty excited to get to it when I get to it :D especially since it allows me to make use of surrealism, too…

Banafsheh Esmailzadeh That's fascinating. I think one of the reasons the concept stood out to me is that it takes a very specific and relatable situation and then pushes it into something much larger and more surreal.

I also like your idea of treating it as the opposite of a soulmate story. We're used to stories about two people being destined to find each other, but the idea of two people being destined to continually disrupt each other's lives across multiple lifetimes feels fresh, funny, and a little unsettling at the same time.

The power dynamics you mentioned could create a lot of interesting possibilities, especially if their roles keep changing from one lifetime to another.

And the use of surrealism sounds like a natural fit for a premise like this. It gives you the freedom to explore the emotional and philosophical side of the relationship without being limited by realism.
