A tough, alcoholic, anger-filled, thrill-seeking, self-destructive, ethnically ambiguous teenage poet, leaves home and starts a journey in Beat Generation style, through the US, looking for revenge against the boogey men of his past that made him a monster: his childhood babysitter who abused him as a kid, his father whom he never met, and ultimately himself, within a society that struggles to help young ones in need.
SYNOPSIS:
19-year-old Nick leaves his mother’s home in New York to go to Boston. There he meets Iona, a young woman, they fall in love, but Nick’s substance use problem causes a break-up. After settling in a hostel in Boston, Nick meets Mr. Cléber, a Brazilian mob boss, who takes him under his wing. When Nick refuses to kill a man under Mr. Cléber ‘s command, he is brought back to New York to reunite with his mother only to find that she had died in an accident; then, Nick decides to look for his father whom he never met and kill him. He then tries to reconnect with Iona in Boston, but he is confronted by her father and he retrieves. That night he meets Rebeca, an attractive Brazilian woman, they get together, and soon later he learns that Mr. Cléber had been killed by the man he refused to kill and that Rebeca is pregnant. Covid-19 hits and Nick and Rebeca move to Rebeca’s farmhouse in South Florida. Time passes, a baby girl is born, and when Covid ends Rebeca leaves Nick and their daughter to go back to Boston. Nick, finally intended to face his problems with substance use, abandonment, and abuse suffered as a child, travels to Boston with his daughter to find Rebeca. When Rebeca sees Nick and the daughter, she considers getting back together.
