SYNOPSIS:
Against the Stream is a compelling romantic drama that weaves together the stories of two couples from different eras, each facing societal and familial pressures as they fight for their love. In the modern era, Johnny, an ambitious rock musician from a troubled, poor background, dreams of success in the music industry. He falls for Sophia, a smart and confident woman from a wealthy but oppressive family, who feels suffocated by her parents' expectations. Despite their intense connection, they face opposition from Sophia’s family, who deem Johnny unworthy. In the ancient timeline, Krates, a charismatic philosopher who lives a simple life rejecting materialism, meets Hipparchia, a beautiful, wealthy woman captivated by his disregard for social norms. Their love deepens as Hipparchia defies her family's rigid expectations to be with Krates, choosing a life of love over wealth and privilege. The film explores the timeless tension between love and societal expectations, with one couple's story ending in heartache, while the other triumphs, proving that love can sometimes overcome even the strictest social barriers.
