SYNOPSIS:

SIP HAPPENS

Romantic Dramedy

Laura Bennett has perfected the art of living the party lifestyle in New York City with her two closest friends.

Two years after losing her parents, she’s the one who organises the dinners, makes the jokes, orders the champagne. What she hasn’t done is grieve. Instead, she’s replaced heartbreak with prosecco and intensity - particularly in the form of her volatile ex-boyfriend, Brian.

When a drunken argument spirals into public disruption, property damage, and a humiliating courtroom appearance, Laura finds herself facing more than legal consequences. Placed on a twelve-month good behaviour bond, ordered to attend counselling, and warned she won’t get another chance, she’s forced to confront a truth she’s long avoided: she’s been choosing turmoil because it’s easier than sitting with loss.

Determined not to waste her second chance, Laura attempts something radical - stability. She distances herself from toxic influences, hosts a pre-Valentine’s dinner instead of hitting the bars, and begins taking responsibility for the damage she’s caused - not just publicly, but emotionally.

Complicating matters is Dr. Geoff, a warm, emotionally grounded physician who sees through her sparkle-and-deflect routine. Unlike the fireworks she’s used to, Geoff insists on friendship first. No intensity. No drama. No champagne-fuelled declarations. Just slow, steady connection. Something Laura has never attempted.

For Laura, that might be the most confronting thing of all.

As Valentine’s Day approaches and old temptations resurface - including Brian’s attempts to re-enter her life - Laura must decide whether she’ll repeat familiar patterns or honour the uncomfortable growth she’s fought for. Because real change isn’t dramatic. It’s deliberate.

And love, she’s learning, doesn’t have to explode to be real.

Sip Happens is a heartfelt romantic dramedy about grief, accountability, and discovering that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is choose slow.
