LAND ANGELS

LAND ANGELS
By Lauren Hackney

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

After her husband’s unexpected heart attack, a young grieving mother maintains the household while navigating the strained relationship with his controlling mother and sister during his recovery – guided by an unexpected guardian angel.

SYNOPSIS:

Anna thought she had it all: a warm suburban home, two lively children, and a devoted husband, Marc, thriving in his career. But when Marc collapses from a sudden, near-fatal heart attack, her world tilts off its axis. Forced into the dual role of caretaker and breadwinner, Anna scrambles to juggle late-night ER visits, the relentless demands of her mother-in-law and Marc’s perfectionist sister, and the mounting medical bills that threaten to swallow their stability.

Amid the chaos, her loyal dog, Zelda, transforms from household pet into a steadfast confidant, sensing when Anna’s spirit falters and offering comfort when human voices fail. As Anna fights to restore Marc’s health, she discovers untapped reserves of strength, resilience, and love - and learns that true family isn’t just blood, but the bonds we forge in our darkest hours. Land Angels is a heartfelt, contemporary drama about a woman’s journey through crisis, the fragile beauty of everyday grace, and the unexpected heroes who carry us through.

Lauren Hackney your logline offers an emotionally rich premise with themes of grief, resilience, and healing. The setup of a woman caught between mourning and caretaking immediately invites empathy, and the addition of an “unexpected guardian angel” adds a touch of spiritual or magical realism that could give the story a unique emotional lift. To strengthen it further, consider tightening the structure. Some of the language is a bit repetitive (“grieving mother” and “loss and love,” “healing” and “unraveling”). You might also hint at how the guardian angel influences the story: does it change the course of events or offer inner guidance? A bit more specificity will help the logline feel more dynamic while retaining its heartfelt tone.

Hi Lauren Hackney. You have a strong creative story, but I think your logline must be improved to catch the attention. I am not a logline expert, but you can ask Maurice for help. He’s very good on it! Go go go
