By Willem Elzenga

GENRE: Sci-fi, Action
LOGLINE:

In a waterlogged future Earth ruled by a cannibalistic sect, a resourceful loner and a resilient survivor must battle ferocious enemies, rebuild hope, and protect their newborn child as they uncover a map that could lead to salvation—or destruction—in a bid to escape to Mars.

SYNOPSIS:

"The Mirror Dimension: Part 1 - Earth"

In the year 2250, Earth is a planet transformed—a vast ocean world with only a scattering of islands remaining above the waterline. Humanity's remnants struggle to survive on this hostile planet, while the elite thrive on Mars, their luxurious cities plagued only by a growing water shortage.

James White, a resilient 27-year-old, ekes out a solitary existence aboard his catamaran, scavenging the sea for sustenance with nets and a crossbow. His fragile peace is shattered when he attracts the attention of a cannibalistic sect led by their ruthless supreme leader, Cook. Narrowly escaping their brutal pursuit, James sails onward, seeking refuge in the endless waters.

His journey takes an unexpected turn when a damaged aerial trading ship crashes nearby. Aboard is "The Trader," a mysterious figure in possession of a partial map revealing a perilous route from Earth to Mars. This treasure was destined for Cook, but the Trader, desperate for food, trades the map fragment to James.

Determined to chart a safer path, James traverses the changing seasons and encounters a surfers’ clan engaged in a futile battle against Cook’s sect. Keeping his distance from the carnage, James rescues Shanti, a strikingly beautiful survivor, from the clutches of the sect. Initially wary, Shanti warms to James as they share their journey across the vast waters.

Their bond deepens as they discover an island. The serene atmosphere is disrupted by the ominous drumbeats of pygmy tribes loyal to Cook. A sudden storm wrecks their catamaran, and the pair is captured. Held captive, they witness Cook’s gruesome rituals, only to escape and rebuild their vessel.

Finding temporary sanctuary on a paradisiacal island, James and Shanti fall in love, and Shanti gives birth to a daughter, Phelicita. Their idyllic life is threatened when Cook, crippled by a rebellion among his followers, escapes on a raft. He drifts to their island, ravenous and desperate, setting his sights on their infant daughter.

In a climactic confrontation, James and Shanti confront Cook as he crawls toward Phelicita. Armed with their resolve and a spear, James ends Cook’s reign of terror moments before disaster. Among Cook’s belongings, they discover the final piece of the map, offering the young family a chance to navigate toward the fabled secret island of the Universal Army—a launch base that might hold the key to Mars.

As the sun sets, James, Shanti, and baby Phelicita embark on a daring voyage, their catamaran slicing through the water toward an uncertain future. This marks the end of Part 1 of their saga: "Earth."

Arthur Charpentier

After the flood, a resourceful sailor goes in search of a spaceport to fly to Mars. However, on the high seas, he is forced to fight off cannibal pirates who are hungry for new prey.

Arthur Charpentier do you want to be my producer?

Arthur Charpentier

I think your logline is overloaded with details. This is more of a fantasy plot than a science fiction one. if all the ice on the planet breaks up. The sea level will rise by only 70 meters. There has never been and cannot be any flood. There are a lot of asteroids made of water in the area of Mars. I think rich people can provide for themselves with anything. But most importantly, you don't have a main antagonist.

Willem Elzenga, not with this project. Need something impressive. :)

Willem Elzenga

Arthur Charpentier I don't care about genres.

Arthur Charpentier

Willem Elzenga, but it should be important. Fantasy is a story about a loser or a simple guy/girl who becomes a cool hero and succeeds. and you're offering a story about an illegal migrant. the viewer won't watch it, no matter how many special effects you add there. as science fiction, it's also very average. You can make a book out of this story, but I don't believe you can make a movie out of it.

Arthur Charpentier This project was good enough for the producer of Snowden and the Aviator so I wouldn't know what your talking about. The business to business artwork was picked up by Sony and got a major bid. The film never got finished when I moved on to work with screenwriter Danny Rubin for Revolution Studios. Maybe its not for you, I get it.

Arthur Charpentier

Yes, I have expressed my opinion based on my knowledge and experience. It's okay if you don't find it useful. everyone has their own way.
