SYNOPSIS:

In her bedroom, Jessie Murphy, a 17-year-old dark-haired girl, plays her guitar while it rains outside. She is annoyed by shouting from the living room and reluctantly puts the guitar aside. Jessie rushes into the living room to find her father, Erick, arguing with her drunk brother, Ryan. Ryan blames his self-destructive behavior on his breakup with Selina. Jessie tries to calm Ryan, but he angrily demands his pills and shoves past her, forcefully throwing her to the floor. Ryan speeds down a rain-slick street and crashes into a tree. Jessie later sees a news report about the fatal crash and collapses in grief as Erick comforts her. Erick drives Jessie to Auburn University, urging her to focus on her studies for a fresh start. Jessie meets Bradley, who helps her find her class, and they feel a spark of chemistry. On campus, Bradley and Jessie bond over shared interests. Jessie confronts Selina about cheating on her brother, leading to a fight where Bradley defends Jessie. Jessie and Bradley share a tender moment and plan a date. They discuss their dark pasts, leading to a passionate night together. Bradley's mom, Madison, confronts him about being responsible and supportive.
