PUNCH KID
By Mario Egiziano

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

With the help of a washed-up boxer, a young boy focuses on boxing to overcome the pain of his mother's violent death, so he does not follow in his father's abusive footsteps.

SYNOPSIS:

Punch Kid is Rocky meets Forrest Gump with a dash of inspiration from the boxing beginnings of Muhammed Ali, George Foreman, Mike Tyson and his trainer Cus D’Amato.

In a story of hope, Jimmy Duncan tells about his life as a ten-year-old boy who is loved by his mother but physically and mentally abused by his father.

On one fateful day, Jimmy’s new bike is stolen that leads him to who will become not only his coach, but a loving father figure, Gus, a former but disgraced boxer turned coach.

However, after witnessing his mother’s death by his abusive father one night, Jimmy must face his fears and choose a life instilled by his mother’s love or fuelled by his father’s abusive ways.

Gus, however, adopts him and over the next eight years, continues to coach and guide him through every step in life with valuable lessons through boxing.

But Gus, hiding a slow life-ending illness, and a hidden agenda, takes Jimmy from one challenge to another, striving for him to become something he could not be, an Olympic Boxing Champion.

I really like the concept and title, @Mario! I think you have a solid logline except for the last part. I think "so he doesn't follow in his father's abusive footsteps" would sound better.
