HEALING WATERS
By Timika S. Chambers

GENRE: Drama, Family
LOGLINE:

A deeply committed male physician must overcome his skepticism about supernatural healing to save his son, who's dying of the same cancer Dr. Blanton's mom died from.

SYNOPSIS:

In Act 1, we enter the induction of Dr. Jeffrey Blanton as Chief Medical Physician at Rise Memorial Research Institute in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Blanton tells his predecessor, Dr. Hughes, that he will not incorporate Eastern medicine practice to combat cancer. He is adamant about using Western medicine, as he later reveals in Act 1 because he doesn't want to give people false hope. The night before he is to leave for a family vacation to Disney World, he saves a young boy from drowning. After trying to save the necklace his daughter and son made him, Dr. Jeffrey Blanton presumably drowns.

In Act 2, Dr. Blanton is on an island with the spirits of Native American leaders in children's form led by their spiritual guardian, Chief Roteeki. Dr. Blanton realizes that he is the chosen one to restore the waters to the Earth but struggles to believe in the powers of nature because of losing his mother to “natural medicine.” After hitting his head on a rock, Dr. Blanton remembers his past life and restores the waters. With the help of Joseph and the other children, Dr. Blanton restores the boat to return home.

In Act 3, Dr. Blanton travels through the sea of Illusion and Truth, which helps him to face his past, including the long-held skepticism he's held about spiritual healing and his mother's cancer. But he returns home to find his son dead. With the help of his faith in supernatural powers, he restores with son. Dr. Blanton confronts Dr. Lewis. The medical board removes Dr. Lewis and restores Dr. Blanton to his position. Elliott becomes a prime physician battling childhood cancer.

What type of physician? What type of cure? Dies of what?

Timika S. Chambers

Hi Rose! Thank you so much for responding....a Medical physician and cancer?

Rose Scott

Wow! What an improvement. I don’t see the relevance of “newly appointed”

SAMPLE Logline: In "Healing Waters," a skeptical Chief Medical Physician must embrace supernatural healing when he mysteriously disappears to an island with amnesia, encountering Native American missionaries who reveal a spiritual connection to the waters that could save his terminally ill son.”

NB. I don’t consider this sample complete, it just tries to match your synopsis more.

Timika S. Chambers

This sounds like a gripping film, Timika S. Chambers! The protagonist isn't just someone who's skepticism about using supernatural healing. He's a deeply committed physician. Solid logline. The last part ("who's dying of the same cancer Dr. Blanton's mom died from") makes the logline even stronger. I'm looking forward to watching this!
