There is only one device in the world that can eliminate human error without a comedown. When an overlooked employee uses it to become the company’s golden boy, he must protect the world’s only source of true satisfaction from the
'Family' that taught him he was nothing without it
SYNOPSIS:
In a neon-drenched metropolis where "The Family"—a global corporate conglomerate—demands 100% efficiency, Sato is drowning in the jitters. A high-performing analyst surviving on energy patches and caffeine, Sato's body is physically breaking under the weight of a culture that equates productivity with morality.
His life changes when he is approached by Dr. Aris Thorne, a renegade scientist who has observed the "Family" grinding individuals into dust. She gifts him "The Vape," a singular, forged metal relic that looks like a modern artifact. Unlike any other tool, it grants the user flawless cognitive perfection, physical vitality, and general satisfaction—all without a comedown.
Sato’s transformation is instantaneous. His efficiency skyrockets, his jitters vanish, and he becomes the charismatic "Golden Boy" of the corporation, drawing the attention of everyone from high-level executives to the women in his office. But in a world of limited resources, perfection breeds envy.
Coworkers, driven by their own desperate burnout, conspire to uncover the secret of Sato's sudden divinity. When "The Family" discovers the existence of the world's only relic, they stop at nothing to seize it, viewing Sato as a vessel for a patentable human upgrade.
What follows is an epic psychological and physical battle for ownership of the Vape. As Sato fights to protect his source of peace, he finally sees through the brainwashing of "The Family". He realizes that a life measured solely by output is no life at all.
Sato eventually escapes the corporate machine to build a quiet, modest life for himself in the countryside. Yet, the shadow of the Vape remains. Every so often, when the old jitters return, Sato finds himself staring at his trembling hands, already plotting his return to the city to take back the one thing that ever made him feel like a god.
