SYNOPSIS:

Siavash works as a housekeeper in a luxurious hotel, clinging to his only passion: motocross. Deep in debt to a nefarious underworld pawnman, Mohsen, he risks losing his beloved motorcycle. Desperate for a way out, he turns to his girlfriend, Fereshteh, a vegetarian who works in a slaughterhouse to support her family. In an attempt to help Siavash secure money, Fereshteh approaches an Islamic charity, only to be lured into a temporary marriage (sigheh), where she is sexually assaulted by a government official, leaving her traumatized and estranged from Siavash.

After losing his bike to Mohsen over his debt, Siavash breaks into the safe of a wealthy Swiss-Iranian guest whose room he tends. During the robbery, a violent struggle erupts, and he accidentally kills the guest. Horrified, he flees, repays Mohsen, and prepares to escape the country with the help of a human trafficker.Horrified, he flees, repays Mohsen, retrieves his bike, and prepares to cross the border on his bike. Before leaving, he visits Fereshteh to say goodbye and confesses to the killing. Distraught, she begs to go with him, and he agrees. Together, they set out toward the border with the help of a human trafficker arranged by Mohsen.

On their way to the border, Siavash learns through his father that the man he killed was a Mossad agent and that his actions inadvertently thwarted an assassination plot against Khamenei. Overnight, the Ministry of Intelligence hails him as a national hero. Headlines celebrate him, but having been expelled from university for a tattoo of the monarchy-era Iranian flag, Siavash feels no pride. When government officials offer him pardon, wealth, and status, Siavash faces a choice between compromise and conscience. He rejects conformity, embracing resistance, and continues to flee.

Exhausted from their flight, Siavash and Fereshteh arrive at the rendezvous point, but the human trafficker doesn’t show up. Suspicious of betrayal by Mohsen, Fereshteh urges him to leave, but he insists on waiting. In a tense, drunken confrontation, she reveals the trauma of her rape, driving her to leave him. Heartbroken, she returns to find Siavash inebriated on the beach beside a limping kitten with a shard of glass in its paw. She rescues the kitten, only for it to be swept into the sea, and plunges in to save it. At dawn, Siavash awakens to find Fereshteh gone, her bag abandoned. Desperate, he searches the beach but finds nothing. When a fisherman’s net brings up her hat, he collapses in grief. A distant commotion catches his attention, revealing children successfully rescuing the kitten from the sea. Cradling this small triumph, he glimpses the ghostly figure of the smuggler in the distance. Standing on the shore, Siavash faces a choice: continue fleeing or confront the uncertain future ahead.
