HUMANIZED BY HERMAN
By Eva Anastasia Lang

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE: After the loss of his domineering father a former farmer uproots his family to teach US soldiers overseas in the early 80’s where he discovers his challenges of culture change, work animosities and strained family dynamics are more than he bargained for yet he manages to help his students and himself.

SYNOPSIS:

After 15 years of teaching in Michigan, a farmer’s son turned teacher seizes an opportunity to teach classes at a U.S. military base in western Germany. Giving up the farming business completely and taking his family of 5 across the big pond, he wanted a chance to make a good impact on US soldier students. Once a lonely farm boy that wasn’t allowed to leave the farm until 36 years old for a date, (he used to tell us all the time that he was “put away with the rest of the farm equipment at night”) Herman found his true calling in teaching. To escape the lonely farm life and against his father’s wishes, he worked even harder alongside his farming and studying to acquire a Master’s degree and decided to become a teacher. Dreaming of living in Germany with his young family was a longtime dream for him. He worked at a military base where he faced new opportunities and challenges that helped him grow in confidence, maturity and professionalism. Herman became a Master teacher, an interpreter and a good friend to all by directing positive change towards a better future. Thank You for your time and support, Blessings, Evana
