SYNOPSIS:

TWO FATES Based on a Memoir by Lori Lee Peters Feature PG-13 True Psychological Drama 1970's Lodi, California Comps- LadyBird meets GoodFellas Logline-A Cadillac dealer gambles everything to topple a Mafia boss, while his young daughter faces a deadly prophecy---without him---in this true story set in 1970s California. Synopsis– Lou Peters, (45), is a top-rated Cadillac dealer in California. His success catches the attention of Mafia boss Joe Bonanno Sr., who, in his seventies, offers Lou two million—double the dealership’s worth—along with a six-figure salary and bonuses for each new dealership he acquires. The goal? A California money-laundering operation. Lou, a true patriot with a past in intelligence, buys time to contact authorities. After meeting Special Agent Bob Anderson, (38), he volunteers to work undercover for the FBI. As the Mafia’s pressure escalates, Lou insists on a legal separation from his family to protect them. The FBI sets him up in an undercover apartment complex, with Bob living directly above him. For Lori, (13), her father’s sudden absence is devastating. She shares a deep bond with him—her protector. That bond becomes even more critical after she’s introduced to The End of Days prophecy, which claims God will soon ask: Are you coming to Heaven or staying on Earth? Raised without religion, Lori is thrown into existential terror. Her brain vibrates from the shock, and every morning she wakes in panic, wondering, Is today the day I die? Despite his dangerous mission, Lou arranges visits with Lori, sensing something is wrong. These meetings become lifelines—for her, a tether to safety; for him, a momentary escape from the pressure. Between the stress of the operation, and idle time, Lou finds levity in pranking Bob and sharing the occasional drink to ease the tension. But as the investigation drags on, Lou faces multiple close calls, relying on quick thinking and Bob’s whispered earpiece guidance to avoid exposure. Meanwhile, Lori begins to unravel. Without her father’s presence, her fears consume her, warping her sense of reality. The world starts to feel fake, like a movie set. She turns to alcohol, sex, and drugs—anything to numb the fear. Then, during her freshman year, her boyfriend invites her over. Instead of the safety she longs for, she’s ambushed by his brother and raped. The assault—the brothers orchestrated setup—deepens her spiral, trapping her in shame and self-destruction. More than anything, she wants to ask her dad, Is God coming soon? But she doesn’t. If Lou, her hero, confirms what she dreads most, she’s certain her mind will shatter. Lou’s Last Chance: The Subpoena Trap Lou calls Bonanno Sr. for advice after being served with a subpoena. Careful not to illegally entrap Bonanno Sr., he maneuvers the conversation skillfully. Then, after a few exchanges, Bonanno gives the order: “Take out the records and destroy them.” Bob and Lou explode with elation— They got him! 1979: The Trial Lou testifies for four grueling days. 1980: The Verdict The judge delivers the word— Guilty. Lou won the battle, but not the war. After returning home, he’s diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. As treatments drain him, Lori stays by his side, just as he had comforted her on the nights she shook from fear. They reminisce, laugh, and he offers her life advice until sleep overtakes him. 1981 – Within a year of the guilty verdict, Lou dies of a Glioblastoma brain tumor, with Lori by his side. She spirals into years of struggle, crushed by grief, fear, and trauma. At her lowest, too terrified to live yet too afraid to die, something shifts. It’s as if Lou clears a path through her pain—guiding her to find her purpose. Years later, she places a book on his grave: God, the Mafia, My Dad, and Me A True Story of Secrets and Survival by Lori Lee Peters
