Sofia, an out-of-touch first-gen Brit, has her life turned upside down after moving to Little Morocco (London), at her mum’s request, with the virtuous and handsome Riyane. She struggles to adapt to the changes until a mishap with an important delivery leads her to appreciate Riyane's worldview.
SYNOPSIS:
After the events following her estranged grandmother’s death, prolific blogger Sofia updates her readers on how her life has been turned upside down. Her mum Meriem, deals with her grief by going on a rediscovery journey to get back to her roots and moves her out-of-touch first-gen daughter into a flat located in a prominently Moroccan area of London.
Sofia isn’t afraid to dramatically express her discontent to her working-class best friend Frances about having to work a front desk job at her mum’s fancy dance studio and sharing her new flat with a virtuous and handsome young Muslim man new to the city, Riyane, who’s in every way her opposite. As she romanticised her life to be like a Hollywood rom-com, she’s under the impression that her mum’s behaviour will be temporary and goes along with this new way of life by trying her best to acclimatise to those changes.
When Riyane asks Sofia to sign for his important delivery regarding his work visa, she's determined to change his perception of her as selfish and clueless. However, when faced with the choice of doing right by her word or going to a last fancy lunch with Frances, she chooses the latter and believes that organising a party for Riyane will get her off the hook. When this backfires, she enlists her mum’s help to retrieve the package. After the day is saved, they find out that though they may be different they can find merit in each other’s philosophy on life.
